Welcome to my Pet Portrait Gallery! In this space are examples of the variety of commissioned pet portrait artwork I have created over the past 20 years. My passion for pet portraiture began in 2002 after graduating college. I was seeking employment as a graphic designer but in the interim I picked up a job working for a pet grooming
salon. I had left over pastels from a drawing class and left over suede matboard I had collected from a prior custom framing job. One day before I would start washing a dog I would snap a quick picture, and reference it later. I had drawn up about five of them, and then when the customer returned I gifted the portrait. Confidence grew as these pet owners expressed that they liked them and encouraged me to keep going with it. Today, I continue to specialize in pet portraiture. Due to a rock painting trend that spread like rapid fire a few years ago, offering pet portraits on rocks became very popular. In fact, one of my favorite pieces to create are pet portraits on river rock, especially for those who have lost a pet. When painting them, they feel like memorial rocks that are hand held and help in the grieving and healing process. It touches my heart to be able to provide this kind of artwork. I look forward to speaking with you so I can create your next great pet portrait! - Ann-Marie Watkoskey
